Hey! I’m Derek
Growing up, I had always planned on becoming a Physical Therapist. Altering graduating with my bachelors and trying for two years to get into PT school, I decided to take my knowledge and love of sports and became a trainer focused on high performance athletes.
This job has allowed me to work with big name athletes, make huge improvements in peoples lives, and share my passion for endurance sports. I have received all of my certifications through both the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) which provides some of the best credentials in the fitness industry.
Whether you’re a cyclist training for a big race or an adventure hobbyist looking to improve their strength and endurance, I’ve got you covered. I’ve trained a wide variety of clients and would love to help take you to the next level.
My Education + Certifications
-
I attended my undergrad at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. I graduated from CSU in 2018.
-
I chose to pursue this specific personal training certification because it goes more in depth into the science of training than many other popular certifications. Because of that, it gave me the knowledge to start training high performance athletes.
-
This allows me to identify postural and functional movement imbalances that could be affecting your performance and/or daily life. I can develop customized corrective programs to mitigate any imbalances you might be experiencing - whether you realize you have any or not.
-
This allows me to analyze a players swing and find different muscle imbalances that can be preventing a efficient swing. It also gives me the tools to create a program that addresses and improves those imbalances while also adding power to the players shot.
-
I am currently working through the level one certification from Precision Nutrition to better help all of my clients with a large aspect of their fitness program.
ABOUT MY FAMILY
I met my wife, Maggie, while I was attending college in Colorado. When we first met, she told me she wasn’t looking for a boyfriend. We have been together for almost 9 years and have plans to finally got married on July 3rd of 2024 in Colorado. Life is funny! Together we have been all over the world and I couldn’t imagine anyone else being as supportive as she’s been through this whole process.
Together we have a 3 year old boxer mix named Finn who comes along with us on almost all of our adventures. Ever since we got him we have loved every minute with him - with the exception of his late night bathroom breaks.
My parents are the ones who got me hooked on sports and the outdoors from a young age. They were always making sure my sister and I were staying active as well as finding activities that we truly enjoyed doing. My little sister has pursued a career as a professional ballerina and is currently crushing it as a dancer.
